Pray For Our Nation

Even though the election is over, our country still needs prayer. Often in desperate times we cry out to the Lord for change. And while the election was one of those times, we are just at the beginning of these 4 years, and the beginning of intercession for our nation. God has given us grace and shown us mercy by not turning us over to wicked leaders. We need to use this time wisely, making the most of every opportunity and praying for radical change in the hearts and minds of men while there is still time.

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity (making the best use of the time (ESV) or redeeming the time (NKJV)), because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16

We were at the White House Election Day and 6 days prior. That week, God led us to march around the White House with flags, crosses and light up crosses, praying for our nation and claiming the White House for the Kingdom of God. There were 3 main things that God continually had me pray throughout those 7 days. I have written them below and invite you to join me in interceding for our Nation.

DC was the second portion of our month-long East Coast NYC/DC Trip. On Day 1, we went to the White House to do a prayer walk which is what we normally do for any outreach. We pray over the ground and get a plan from the Lord of how He wants us to proceed. We marched around it twice, interceding for our nation. Waking up the next morning, I realized we had 7 days straight of ministry at the White House.

Jericho vibes.

God confirmed this to us through multiple avenues. Someone in our ministry who was praying for us back in Arizona messaged and said this portion of the trip will be different from NYC. It will be more intercession and less outreach. They likened it to Jericho, and we hadn’t even spoken.

Our second night there was halloween. David wanted to be in front of the White house late, occupying the space for Christ, in case others showed up that night trying to cast spells or curses over our nation. You never know, the devil moves people to do crazy things on halloween. No one showed up, and we did our two lap prayer march 11:30p-1a. That night there were many, many, many people at the bars and clubs in downtown DC. God clearly directed us to not do any other ministry, but to stay focused on what He called us to at the White House.

For the next 5 nights we marched from 11p-1a. We were the last ones there of the day and the first ones there of the day, every day, claiming the White House for the glory of God. Powerful.

What To Pray For

While we were praying, I continuously asked the Lord what it was that He wanted me to pray. There were 3 things that kept being laid upon my heart and mind.

1. Abortion.
God is very angry with our nation and the shedding of innocent blood that has occurred legally here for the last 52 years. Pray that the institution of abortion is torn down and that it becomes illegal in our nation. Pray that Planned Parenthood would be defunded and our government would not condone and participate in abortion.

“These six things the Lord hates, indeed, seven are an abomination to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.” Proverbs 6:16-17

2. LGBTQ and the transgender movement—the perverting of the sexes and defiling the youth.
The confusion of the sexes is more pervasive than just homosexuality amongst adults. There is a demonic movement to oversexualize innocent children and youth. Books in elementary schools these days are pornographic and are safe under the banner of “education.” Schools in some states have transgender closets where students can change clothes, and ultimately genders, without their parents knowing. Planned Parenthood now offers sex hormone therapy for those wanting to change their gender with very few questions asked. (Another reason you should pray for it to be shut down). The confusion of the sexes brings confusion to the core identity of a person. Which means that our nation is very lost and confused.

Pray:
-Against the LGBTQ movement and the confusion of the sexes
-For school board leaders, teachers, and for a purification of our school system
-For transgender “rights” among youth to legally be pushed to an older age, and truthfully abolished all together

“It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.” Luke 17:2

3. Repentance in our nation. That “Jesus would be King of their hearts, Lord of their lives, and righteousness would prevail.”
There were just a few times I felt so overwhelmed with the power of the Holy Spirit as I was praying that tears rolled down my cheeks. This was one of those prayers. I was praying for repentance in our nation. The only way a nation truly changes is if it changes from the inside out. The hearts of men must be regenerated. I was praying for conviction to fall and for God to grant men and women in our country the gift of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. I prayed that Jesus would be King of their hearts, Lord of their lives, and that righteousness would prevail. There was such power in the phrase I prayed it over, and over, and over again. Please join with me in praying for the hearts of men and women in our nation to be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Pray for people to be born again.

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16

Don’t lose heart. There is a God in heaven who hears our prayers. During that week of prayer at the White House God confirmed this to us. We prayed that a witchcraft event happening in Tucson would be rained out. People back home told us that it poured, and 80% of those attending left. We all were so encouraged and motivated to keep praying earnestly!
