The Power Of A Tract

This summer, God showed us just how powerful giving out a single tract can be.

First, we experienced the ripple effect as we walked through the Washington, D.C. 4th of July parade with a mini parade of our own. I was in the front with the camera, so I didn’t see or hear as much as those who were walking in the back behind the cross with flags. People were pulling out their phones recording us and taking many tracts from us. God revealed the spiritual wave that flows in our wake.

Then, someone who was encouraging our team, told us a story about a man who met multiple people in his life who had become believers through a tract. The story was impressed upon my heart and mind because I often have thought that just giving out a tract isn’t that valuable. It doesn’t require as much skill or gifting as arguing for the Gospel. It’s just giving someone a piece of paper. But that piece of paper has the words of eternal life on it and the power God. It could change everything for them.

After that, when David and I were in NYC we went to a Home Depot. We canvassed the store and gave every employee in sight a Million Dollar Bill tract. As we were crisscrossing the store looking for what we needed, we passed by a group of employees standing in the center of the store all talking about the tract, religion, and what they believed. Often, we don’t get to see the aftermath of what giving out a tract does. But God let us see a small sampling of the ripple effect it has and how it changes someone’s day.

Pointing people’s minds to Christ and directing their thoughts to His Cross is powerful. Everyone who receives one of our tracts has to see Jesus hanging on the Cross for their sins. That image is placed in front of them and it’s powerful. Many times, I have seen someone just staring at it. I know they are being convicted.

You too can participate in this. You can give out a tract at the grocery store and say, “I wanted to give this to you.” You can change someone’s day, (or life), and alter their destiny by intersecting paths with them and giving them the truth of the Gospel.

Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing.
