True success is obedience to God. Obeying God doesn’t always look like the road to success, in fact it looks the opposite. “
Go ahead Abraham. Leave everything you know behind and have absolutely no clue where you’re going. I’ll be with you. Yeah Moses, go tell Pharaoh to let all his slaves go. It’ll be successful. I mean at first he will tell you no. I’m going to harden his heart. But go tell him anyways. Just waltz into Egypt and tell him to let My people go. I’ll be with you. Yeah, march around the city Joshua. Trust Me. You may look a little funny walking for days and days. But you’ll be successful. The walls will fall. Just obey Me. Hey Daniel, keep praying to Me. I know there’s a decree saying you’ll get thrown into a den to be mauled to death by lions for doing this. But you keep at it Daniel. I’ll be with you.”
The success of this world is a seductive sham. It glitters and shines but is found hollow once attained. However, the proven genuineness of your faith is of greater worth than gold. Store up treasures in heaven. Build your life on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ. True success is obedience to God. Do what He is asking you. Obey Him so that you may be successful. Not just in this life, but in eternity. Forever is a long long time. I’m investing in that kingdom. That economy. That reality, is the true reality.
“These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” -1 Peter 1:7
“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” -Matthew 6:20-21
Don’t waste this life storing up treasure that is destined for destruction. Jesus has my heart. Does He have yours?
