If The Son Sets You Free
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” -John 8:36
Free indeed. Not gonna lie, I didn’t feel totally free last week. In fact I felt the opposite. I felt like I was back in bondage even though no external circumstances had changed in my life. What had changed? What the heck was going on? Why was I longing for days past, looking to days future with dim hope, and not enjoying one ounce of the present moment I was living in? Relationship. I had fallen back into routine and performance rather than relationship with Jesus. My heart was saying, “What do You want me to do so I can emotionally get what I need from You?” Rather than, “Jesus I just want to sit in Your presence and encounter You because You are that good. You are all I need. I just need to be with You.” My primary purpose is relationship with God. That’s it. That’s why I was created. That’s why God the Father sent Jesus the Son. So I could be in relationship with Him…for eternity. Without that relationship, nothing else matters. None of the Bible reading, church meeting, or street evangelizing matters without right relationship with God. That’s all He asks for. All else flows from there. After seeking and finding His face, my heart is filled and I can’t help but to praise, spend time in His word, and tell everyone around me the good news. God is good. Jesus saves. If the Son sets you free you are free indeed!!!
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” -Romans 15:13
Truly, I am full and free indeed.
