“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” -Psalms 118:24
I grew up singing this verse. I’ve known this verse for as long as I can remember. The words became lyrics to a song rather than truth in God’s word. How often do I actually take these words seriously? God made this day? He created it? For me? I am to rejoice and delight in the day He has given me? So often my mind thinks it’s a day that is mine, I created, I’m in control, my life and the day are mine. When I truly think about this day as a gift from God, something He has bestowed upon me and for me, my whole outlook changes. Now I am seeking to find more of Him in every corner of every circumstance and moment. I am praising and communing with God minute by minute rather than just at the beginning and end of my day. This is the day He has made! I WILL rejoice and be glad in it. This mindset allows me to live more present in the present experiencing His presence. Thank you Jesus for the day You have made. I am going to enjoy all that You have for me today.
